LOBO, Francisco Rodrigues.- AS EGLOGAS DE | FRANCISCO | RODRIGVES LOBO.- Impresso cõ licenca em Lxa. [Lisboa]: por Pedro Crasbeeck, 1605.- [2, 1 br.], 114 f.; 17 cm.- E. Francisco Rodrigues Lobo (ca.1580-1622), poet from Leiria of the transition from classical to baroque aesthetics; influenced by Camões and Sá de Miranda, he cultivated sixteenth-century lyricism and bucolic style, of which his Églogas (or Éclogues) are one of the most significant exponents. Of the rare original edition, two variants are known: one with an allegorical title page, entirely copperplate printed (subscription: P.P. fc.); another (the present one) with a typed title page. Trimmed copy, with tangential damage to the letter S of the first line of the title and of some current titles; slight water stain (tidal), especially on the outer margin, affecting the entire volume; ownership manuscript of the time, on the title page: Diego de Colmenares (possibly the Spanish historian, 1586-1651). Full sheepskin binding, from the 18th century(?), a little worn, with carmine edges, preserving the original marbled endpapers. Inocêncio (III, p. 46) will not have seen any copy, since he only dedicates less than one line to it and does not indicate collation. Palha, 837. Arouca, L 296 (describes the present edition and does not mention the engraved title page).
