Little is known about the author (16th/17th century), apart from what he himself says on the title pages of his works: born in Murça, Master of Arts in Alcalá and professor of Mathematics in Lisbon and Coimbra; he was born in the last quarter of the 16th century and still lived in 1631. Gaspar Sequeira is also the author of the famous “Tesouro de prudentes”. João Arouca (17th century Bibliography) records seven editions of the work in the 17th century alone. The copy, slightly handled and with slight browning, has some leaves with small cuts in the lower margin, not affecting the text. Otherwise, it is complete and clean.
