George Vivian (1798-1873), English architect, draughtsman, painter and art critic, traveled throughout Europe for 30 years, spending his time in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Scandinavia and Russia. Complete copy of one of the two most beautiful books printed lithographically in the 19th century about Spain. The other would be the “Scenery of Portugal & Spain”, by the same author, published by the same editor, the following year. It includes 29 beautiful hand-coloured lithographs, 23 of which are full-page, four double (two per page), a frontispiece and a vignette with a view of Cordoba, along with the text of the introduction. The copy is well preserved, very clean, presenting the prints with great freshness, all in sequence and according to the initial “list of drawings”, also lithographed (1 f. / 2 p.). Half-morocco binding, from the 19th century, probably English made, with small damage to the upper joint and traces of moisture. top edge gilt. Abbey (Travel), 154. Duarte de Sousa, II, 747.
