Barbosa Machado considers it “a primeira suma de Moral que saiu em língua vulgar neste Reino”. The “Compendio”, originally published as “Manual de confessores” in 1549, would have at least six more editions during the 16th century. The copy, a little cropped, with slight browning and slight handling, misses two blank sheets at the beginning and one at the end. Very small and light ink stains (contact?) on the title page.
