Second English edition of the popular book by Koster (ca. 1793-1820), a British subject, born in Lisbon, having lived in Brazil, for health reasons, from 1809, where he was “sugar mill lord”. The collation of the two volumes is as follows: I - X, [2], 406 p.: [6] engrav., 2 unfolding maps.; II - IV, 330 p.: [2] engrav. Complete copy, containing the plan of the port of Pernambuco, the map of the captaincy and the eight non-coloured aquatints, representing, mainly, traditional customs, a mill and aspects of the author's voyage. Copy slightly cropped and with very slight browning, but generally clean. Heraldic bookmark of William Scott Kerr of Chatto (Scotland).
