Polido Vergilio (ca. 1470-1555), Italian humanist and historian, born in Urbino, in 1505 he was sent to England as a papal delegate; among his cultural relationships we highlight Thomas Linacre, John Colet, Thomas More and Erasmus. Second edition (first date from 1534) of his masterpiece “Anglicae historiae”, considered an important source for knowledge of the reign of Henry VII. Edition especially known and appreciated for presenting, at the beginning of the text (f. a3), a beautiful woodcut with representations of fox hunting, dances, games, etc., by Hans Holbein. Copy with frequent annotations and underlining of the time; title page with six antique belongings; from approximately page 555/556 (±40 f.), stain of increasing intensity, affecting, at the end, the upper third of the sheets: last sheet (only with the printer's mark on the back) redone on the upper half, keeping, however, the said mark.
