Pietro Paolo Floriani (1585-1638), Italian engineer and architect, born in Macerata, expert in military buildings and fortifications; among his numerous works, we highlight the fortresses of Innsbruck, Austria, Altenburg, Hungary, San Germano, Piedmont, and the defensive lines of the city of La Valletta, Malta. Second edition (the first was printed in Macerata, in 1630, by Giuliano Carboni), illustrated with an engraved allegorical title (heraldic and architectural), a portrait of the author (bust inserted in architectural composition) and 52 copperplate prints, numbered 1 to 51 (two engravings with nº 14, A and B), eight of which are printed with the text and the rest separately, the last one can be folded. Copy with slight foxing, but generally clean; title page with light handling and minor restoration; pictures 9, 10 and 11 bound backwards.
