An extremely fine «Doucai» porcelain Fishbowl Qing Dynasty - Qianlong Period (1736-1795) interior with two enamel slight scratches 10 x 8 cm, latter carved exotic wood stand (with faults and defects) marked Dimensões (altura x comprimento x largura) - 23,1 x 33,5 cm Notes: "The deep gently rounded sides rising from a recessed base to an incurved lipped mouth, finely painted in characteristic palette of brilliant darker and lighter green, pink, yellow, aubergine, iron-red and clear underglaze-blue outlines, with five large lotus flower medallions divided by floral strapwork, all between a border of multicoloured lappets around the base and pendent ruyi-heads above, a further band of shaped panels enclosing florets between leaves reserved on a blue ground below the rim.
The base with a wide unglazed ring around a white glazed circle bearing the Qianlong mark (Zuanshu) in underglaze-blue.
The interior entirely plain.

Acquired by the grandfather of the current owner in the Auction of the contents of Monserrate Palace, held in November 1946.

Sir Francis Cook (1817-1901), first Baronet and Viscount of Monserrate,
was a British wealthy merchant and art collector. In 1869 he assumed the direction
of the company from his father, Cook, Son & Co. which marketed products of wool, cotton, linen and silk, becoming one of the three wealthiest men in Britain,
which allowed him to gather a vast art collection, having as his Adviser Sir John Charles Robinson (1824-1913) former curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
In 1856 he bought the Quinta de Monserrate in Sintra, Portugal, where he ordered
the rebuilding of the Monserrate Palace, a building that combines Gothic,
Indian and Moorish influences, according to a project by James Knowles (1831-1908).
In 7 June 1870, he was made Viscount of Monserrate, a title created on his behalf
by King D. Louis I of Portugal. In November 1946 the Monserrate Palace Collection
was sold at an auction held by Leiria & Nascimento.
“Millionaire and refined art collector, Francis Cook enriched the interiors
of the Monserrate house with high quality and valuable pieces with different
origins and from different periods. Indian and European furniture,
oriental porcelain, silverware from different locations, Persin carpets,
large crystal chandeliers from Venice, Mudejar tiles, paintings from Italian,
Spanish and Portuguese Schools of sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth
centuries, Flemish and Italian sculptures, reproductions of statues
and famous bust, etc., decorated the rooms of the singular residence
