JOSÉ SOARES DA SILVA - 1672-1739 Major Edition, illustrated in the first volume with a portrait of King D. João I of Portugal, intaglio engraved (en taille-douce) with the following subscription: Franc: s Harrewijn Deliniavit et Sculpsit Lisboa 1730. The copy belonged to Camilo Castelo Branco and features its signature in face of volume I (Camillo Cast. Br.), as well as a note of price (8$rs...); in the guard projection, the following inscription, also by the hand of Camilo: 4 vols. complete and very clear copy. On guard projection of volume IV, also a note of Camilo on pagination errors. Other occasional notes of Camilo, ink (p. 253 and 264, volume I) and pencil (?) on several pages of the first three volumes. Copy lightly trimmed and with occasional acidity, but generally clean, keeping good margins. Bindings of the time, entire calf, slightly fatigued. Innocent, V, p. 137.
