GARCIA DE RESENDE - 1470-1536 Garcia de Resende (1470-1536), humanist, poet and chronicler, born in Évora; He let us, among other works, the famous General Songbook, published in 1516, a poetry collection of the Courts of Kings D. Afonso V, D. João II and D. Manuel I of Portugal. Third Edition of this chronicle, following closely the 1554 Edition, although it does not include the Miscellany that had already been published in the previous edition. Copy with slight acidity, slight handled with pronounced trimming, damaging vaguely the first line of the title on the cover page and occasionally the xylographic frameworks of the text pages (two columns), as well as multiple signatures of the notebooks. Also features some other imperfections and peculiarities: cover page and about 10 other leaves with marginal restorations; occasional water stains (tidal); some handwritten notes (17th century) on the margins and blank verso of the last leaf. Recent binding (20th century), intact parchment, with label of Frederico d'Almeida workshop, introducing on the centre of the plans, the gilded and engraved enterprise of King D. João II, with the Pelican and the motto Pola lei e pola grei. Dimensões (altura x comprimento x largura) - 25 cm
