FRANCISCO DE GOYA Y LUCIENTES - 1746-1828 Los Desastres de la Guerra de Francisco Goya (1746-1828) / Francisco Goya’s War Disasters Sixth Edition complete set, as published by the editor, from the original copper plates today kept in the National's Chalcography of Madrid. The series, also known as the Estragos o desastres de la Guerra (Disasters or War Damages), was engraved between 1810 and 1815 and represents, with great realism, some of the most violent episodes of the Spanish war of independence that devastated the neighbouring country between 1808 and 1814. The album consists of a cover page and another with a short introduction and it is coated with its original canvas binding, lightly handled and followed by the 80 proof, high grammage paper printed. Some engravings show slight acidity and small stains.
