MANUEL CARLOS DE ANDRADE - 1755-1817 Luz da liberal e nobre arte de cavallaria.- Lisboa: Na Regia Officina Typografica, 1790.- XXVI, 454, [1, 1 br.] p.: 93 gravuras, 1 retrato; 35 cm.- E. Disjointed copy but complete (includes the rare final errata sheet) and with good margins, one of the most sought-after illustrated books printed in Portugal in the eighteenth century. Inocêncio (V, 386) tells us that some wished to assign the work to the Marquis of Marialva but this has never been confirmed. The 93 prints, of which 22 are foldable, represent mainly the horse attitudes in teaching and are opened on copper plate by several engravers, Fróis, Martini, Piedra, etc. (Ernesto Soares, history, 1076), according to Joaquim Carneiro da Silva's originals. The Prince Regent, the future King D. João VI of Portugal, is represented in prints 21, 29, 53 and 59 (Ernesto Soares and Flores, dictionary of iconography, 1549 (B)). Relating vignettes at the beginning of books I and VI. Dimensões (altura x comprimento x largura) - 35 x 26 cm
