PESSOA, Fernando.- 35 sonnets.- Lisbon: Monteiro & Co., 1918.- [20] p.; 20 cm.- B. An exceptional copy of one of the author's first publications during his lifetime, with an autograph dedication by Fernando Pessoa on the title page: Ao Augusto Ferreira Gomes, com um abraço do seu amigo Fernando Pessoa, Março. 1935. The dedicatee (1892-1953), a journalist and poet born in Lisbon, was one of FP's closest friends and his occult companion, also involved in the famous staging that involved Aleister Crowley's disappearance at Boca do Inferno; AFG was also the author of the book of poems 2Quinto Império" (Lisbon, Parceria A.M. Pereira, 1934), for which FP wrote an extensive preface (pages XV to XXI), one of only three prefaces and the last written by the Poet of "Mensagem" after those of "Acrónios", by Luís Pedro, and "Alma errante", by Eliezer Kamenezky, both published in 1932. The copy, very clean (with only a tiny stain on the bottom margin of the first four pages), has the ex-libris of Dr. Pedro Veiga, a well-known Pessoa publisher from Porto, pasted inside(?) the second cover of the booklet
