A monumental work, initially published in 50 fascicles (livraisons), each containing four engravings accompanied by their respective descriptive texts. The original drawings by Jean Baptiste Wicar (1762-1834), a French neoclassical painter and collector born in Lille, were lost in the fire that occurred in 1871 at the Louvre Museum Library. The first volume also includes an engraved frontispiece, thus totaling 201 intaglio engravings, most of them double (two images per page). The copy sometimes shows some signs of browning, but is generally clean. Heraldic Ex-libris of Luiz Vasconcellos Porto.
