ABEDO, Gonçalo Mendes de Vasconcelos e.- DIVERSORVM | IVRIS ARGVMENTORVM, | LIBER PRIMVS. | AVTHORE DOCTORE GONÇALLO | MENDEZ DE VASCONCELLOS | ET CABEDO. | [...] | Accesserunt & alia quædam opuscula in gratiam studiorum.- Conimbricae: Apud Antonium Barrerium typogr. Reg. in Vniversitate. 1594.- [4], 109, [1 br., 4] f.; 20 cm.- E. A very unusual 16th-century edition of a compilation of arguments intended to assist lawyers and jurists in constructing their cases. The author (1558?-1604), a professor at the Royal College of Saint Paul in Coimbra, was the brother of the famous Miguel de Vasconcelos and nephew of Diogo Mendes de Vasconcelos; he was a canon of the Cathedral of Évora, a deputy of the Inquisition of Coimbra and Évora, and a judge of the Court of Appeals. The copy is lightly handled, with a slight trimming; the title page is somewhat dusty, with a minor fault near the first line of the title. The binding is contemporary, entirely of parchment, with new endpapers. Barbosa Machado, II, p. 397. Anselmo, 117 (records only two copies: National Library and Academy of Sciences). BN (16th Century), 103. Not mentioned in the Catalogue of the Biblioteca de D. Manuel II.
