Handwritten copy of a single hand, of a work that, although indicated to have been published in 1791, remained unpublished until it was published by Fundação Oriente, in 1994, circulating at the time, only in handwritten copies. The author (1720-1776), who in the order assumed the name of Friar António da Purificação, was in India as a soldier and diplomat. The original would have been written in 1771, in the Limoeiro prison, where the author was imprisoned between 1770 and April 1772. The two carefully calligraphed volumes, with a total of more than 400 pages, rarely appear together, as is the case with BNP (only volume I) and the Academy of Sciences (only volume II). Volume II with some moisture stains limited to the upper margin of the last 12 sheets. Contemporary full-sheepskin bindings, with some wear and damage to the spines.
