In addition to meticulous bibliographic descriptions, D. Manuel leaves us valuable information on iconographic, typographical, authorship and content aspects. Issue no. 3 of the special edition of 1945, printed on Van Gelder paper and signed by King D. Manuel II in the first two volumes (the third is posthumous). Bilingual edition, with a high graphic standard, limited to 698 copies, printed in two columns in black and red. The third volume has an autograph inscription: To Antonio Tavares de Carvalho, from Margery Withers who has had the great pleasure at last of meeting him. 13th July, 1995. Miss Withers (1905-1999) was D. Manuel's personal secretary and responsible for the publication of the third volume of “Livros antigos portugueses”, in 1935. Original bindings, in blue cloth (buckram), without book jackets, with top edge gilt (spines slightly discoloured).
