Gabriel Diaz Vara Calderaon (1621-1676), a Spanish religious scholar born in Fuentelabrada (Madrid), was canon of the University of Salamanca, of the Cathedral of Ávila and, from 1671, bishop of Santiago de Cuba (Havana). Work illustrated with five copperplate prints, printed separately: N[uest]ra Sª del Buensucesso de Madrid; author's portrait; solemn procession; form and order of solemnity...; ...Plaza de S. Pedro de Roma (double). This last engraving bears the following inscription: G[regori]o a Fosman et Medina sculpsit M. 1672. Title page printed in black and red and black; colophon on the last page, dated 1673. Copy slightly trimmed, but clean, keeping the engravings very fresh and with good margins. Contemporary binding, fully flexible parchment, with new endpapers. Palau (72952) refers to six engravings.
