The work is considered «the cornerstone for all subsequent work on probability» (Erwin Tomash & Michael R. Williams). The volume includes two supplements, the first undated, the second published in February 1818; the last group of 10 pages is a publisher's catalogue. Slightly trimmed, but clean copy. Recent binding, full sheepskin, with apatina in the style of the period, with carminated edges.
