Copy nº 217 of a limited edition of 250 numbered copies (plus VIII for collaborators). The edition, funded by the Italian government, was published to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the birth of Dante (1265-1321), considered the greatest poet in the Italian language. It includes 100 original illustrations by the Catalan artist Salvador Dalí, (1904-1889), one of the greatest exponents of European surrealism, printed in Jean Estrade’s atelier (34 images in “Inferno”, 33 in “Purgatory” and 33 in “Paradise”). Copy with very slight foxing, confined to the text pages, as it was published, in loose sheets, with protective “chemises”.
