é 207], [1 br.] p.; 19 cm.- E. First edition of the first part, published in the year after the author's death (1706-1790) and two years before the English language edition. The translation is by Jacques Gibelin, possibly made from one of the two manuscripts the author sent to France, asking a friend for an opinion. Complete copy, with two parts: the first (156 p.) covers the period from 1706 to 1731, while the second (207 p.) is a continuation of the first, by Wilmer (see footnote at the beginning of the second part). Benjamin Franklin, one of the most prominent figures of the American Revolution, in addition to being known for his experiments with electricity, was also the first US ambassador to France. The work has already been considered "The Most Widely Read of All American Autobiographies, The Gift to Adolescents of Innumerable Parents ... this book holds the essence of the American way of life" (Grolier, A treasury of American literature, 21). Copy a little trimmed, but keeping good margins; slight foxing and handling; occasional minor stains. Ex-libris of Emílio Monteiro. Worn full sheepskin contemporary binding, but solid and recoverable, keeping the original marbled paper endpapers. Sabin, 25549.
