Flora Lusitanica, de Brotero, 1804 BROTERO, Félix de Avelar.- Flora Lusitanica, seu plantarum, quae in Lusitania vel sponte crescunt, vel frequentius coluntur, ex florum praesertim sexubus systematice distributarum, synopsis.- Olissipone: Ex Typographia Regia, 1804.- 2 vols.; 21 cm.- E. The initiative of the edition, of the greatest importance in the context of the Portuguese scientific bibliography, was by D. Rodrigo de Sousa Coutinho, then Minister of State. Its publication was the subject of great opposition, especially by Fr. Mariano Veloso and Domingos Vandelli, author of a Florae lusitanicae et brasiliensis, published in Coimbra in 1788, but substantially less developed. The collation of the two volumes is as follows: Pars I - XVIII, 607, [1 br.] p.; Pars II - 557, [1] p. Three 19th-century handwritten possessions: Wenceslau de Lima, Coimbra, May 9, 1874 (pars I, p. III e pars II, p. 3); de A.P. SM(?) Joaquim Thomé dos Santos (pars II, title page). A slightly cropped but clean specimen, entire sheepskin contemporary bindings, slightly worn, especially that of the first volume. Inocêncio, II, p. 261.
