"Bébé Le Parisien" - Jules Steiner winding puppet doll sculpture with biscuit head and papier-maché body fabric dress French original box with loose cover, mechanism requiring maintenance, missing three fingers of the right hand, minor defects marked LE PETIT PARISIEN BÉBÉ STEINER - MÉDAILLE D'OR PARIS 1889 Dimensões (altura x comprimento x largura) - 47 cm Notes: Jules Steiner was an important French doll maker forming the "Steiner Société" in 1855, this company survived until his death (1891) producing up to 1908. All his dolls had biscuit heads and most of them winding movements as it is the case, which made them expensive as to other dolls of the competition. This fact led him to produce simple dolls. He won several gold medals including the Paris exhibition one in 1899 as is the case of this specimen.
