French edition of a collection of Antiquities of Herculaneum by Italian engravor Tommaso Piroli (1750-1824), consisting of six volumes with the following collation: : I (peintures) - [2], VIII p., [48] f.: XLVIII engravings; II (peintures) - [4] p., [48, 1] f.: XLVIII engravings; III - (peintures) - [4], 8 p., [60] f.: LX engravings; IV (bronzes) - [6] p., [48] f.: XLVIII engravings; V (bronzes) - [6, 2] p., [48] f.: XLVIII engravings; VI (lampes et candélabres) - VIII, 31, [1 brochure] p., [50] f.: L engravings. The six volumes (bound in three volumes) comprise a total of 302 intaglio (taille-douce) engravings (burin), accompanied by the respective explaining texts in interspersed leaves. Copy lacking the engravings XLIX to LIV on volume V (6 engravings), very clean (only engraving I of volume IV, shows a watertide stain), bindings of the time with canvas spines and leather labels.
