Palácio Teles de Meneses (Alfredo da Cunha - São Vicente) PALACE Teles de Meneses (Alfredo da Cunha - São Vicente), in S. Vicente Square, Lisbon.- 18th/10th centuries. 1 portfolio with documents. The Palace Teles de Meneses, also known as the Palace Alfredo da Cunha or the Palace of São Vicente, whose primitive construction dates fro the 17th century, was purchased in 1906, by businessman, journalist and writor Alfredo da Cunha (1863-1942), to the Marquis of Funchal, which has purchased it in 1902 to the heirs of the Teles de Meneses family. Under the new ownership the Palace was fully refurbished by architect Nicola Bigaglia. Assembly constituted by the following documents: 1 - Folder with 15 documents (invoices, letters and budgets) of Empreza Eléctrica H.B.C. concerning electrification. 2 – Volume 9 of Inventory of Lisbon, by Noberto de Araújo (Lisbon, CML, 1952), containing a short historic description of the palace. 3 – A greaseproof architectural design and an ozalid plan. 4 – Marriage and dowery contract between D. Mariana Catarina de Noronha and Gonçalo Vieira da Silva Telles. Document dated Octobre 2, 1824. 5 – Three transcripts in public form, of notarial deeds of sale, dated Novembre 19, 1902 (sale),May 2, 1906 and Decembre 31, 1906. 6 – 7 notarial certificates dated 1902 and 1903 7 – 12 sheets with drafts of texts pertaining to a "search" to the home of Dr. Alfredo da Cunha, fundamented on a so-called political meeting in favour of movement headed by Paiva Couceiro (October 1910?). 8 - A stitched notebook containing four titles, deeds and transcriptsof my «minhas Cazas Grandes junto ao mosteiro de S. Vicente de For a desta cidade», respectivelly 1669 (16, 15 f.), 1686 (15 f.), 1734 (17 f.) and 1758 (6 f.). 9 – A copy containing documents of property contributions (forms), drafts, invoices, etc., concerning the years of 1906 and 1907. 10 – A policy from the Insurance Company Fidelidade, dated Novembre 20, 1902. 11 – A certificate of a donation deed, dated July 26, 1847. 12 – 14 photographs of the interior of the palace (billiard room, living room, dinner room, theatre, group photo, etc.); 5 small photographs with play characters; 1 photograph of a tile panel; 1 photograph of the funeral of King D. Carlos I and of Crown Prince D. Luís Filipe. 13 – 4 copies of the same programme, dated April 2, 1910: plays, monologue, serenade of Coimbra, etc.; 6 copies of “Serenata de Coimbra” by Alfredo da Cunha (bifolios). 14 – Several printed cards and other documents of difficult discrimination. 15 – Testament of Alfredo da Cunha (1863-1942), dated from Lisbon, September 14, 1938.
