Madeira Island, [Photo album]: Souvenir de voyage, 1901. Palheiro [Quinta].-1 vol.: 12 photographs; 16x21 cm.-E., album containing 12 photographs (205x155 mm) mounted on card frames, of Quinta do Palheiro, in Madeira Island, one of the most famous gardens of the island, located east of the city of Funchal, at an altitude of about 500 m. Initially owned by the 1st Count of Carvalhal (1778-1837), in 1885 the estate was purchased by the Blandy family which still owns it. Album organized in 1901 on the occasion of the visit of King Carlos I and Queen D. Amelia of Portugal to the estate at the invitation of John Burden Blandy, who then offered the royal visitors a banquet in the gardens. The old House, original summer residence, built in 1801, is today a luxury hotel. Original entire binding of blue and white morocco, with the flags of Portugal and the United Kingdom gold engraved with inlays in the upper plan, which also features the following inscription: Souvenir de voyage, 1901.
