XVIII Controversial work by a jurist, born in Burgos and Senator in Milan (1606-1661), was published in response to Lusitana Liberata of António de Sousa de Macedo (London, 1645), and develops extensive and detailed argument about the rights of succession to the Crown of Portugal of Infanta D. Catarina of Braganza, grandmother of King D. João IV of Portugal and corresponding illegitimacy of the latter to accept the throne. The copy, very trimmed, was carefully washed and reencolado. Restored traces of bookworm work. Recent binding, entire spotted calf.
