BARTOLOMÉ LEONARDO DE ARGENSOLA - 1562-1631 The original edition of a work of critical significance for the history of the Portuguese presence in the East Indies, which resulted from an order made by the President of the Council of the Indies and Great of Spain, D. Pedro Fernández de Castro y Andrade (1576-1622), 7th Count of Lemos. The author (1562-1631), Spanish poet, historian and scholar, del Siglo de Oro, was born in Barbastro (Huesca) and was on familiar terms with Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Luis de Léon and other references of Spanish culture. The first four preliminary leaves and the first sheet of text (A1) are shorter, indicating they have been added from another copy. Moreover, a copy with slight acidity, lightly trimmed, but complete and mostly clean. Recent binding (20th century), entire calf, with an elaborate dry decoration on the plans and gilt spine.
