An Ewer and Basin, D. José I, King of Portugal (1750-1777), silver, relief "Shell motifs" and engraved decoration with quartered coat of arms: I - Almeida; II - Caiado, de Gamboa (with chief "three leaves"); III - Coutinho; IV - Camelo, helmet and crest of Almeida; of Adro Manor, Trevões, Paredes da Beira, ewer with Oporto assay mark (1758-1768) and João Coelho de Sampaio maker's mark (1758-1768), basin with Oporto's trade judge mark (1768-1784) and João Coelho de Sampaio maker's mark (1768-1784), Portuguese Notes: in the Adro Manor, in Trevões, the Coat of Arms and the armorial buttons have a heraldic composition with the same Coat of Arms but with quarters in a different sequence: I - Almeida; II - Coutinho; III - Camelo; IV - Caiado (de Gamboa), helmet and crest of Almeida, not showing the chief on quarter of Caiado. An ewer and basin of the same time and maker was sold at Christie's on October 27, 2005, auction # 1563, lot 286, New York City, for $86.400.
