A Pair of Candlesticks, Louis XV (1723-1774), silver, hexagonal base, engraved decoration with the coat of arms of Knight of Justice (religious) of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta; armorial description: blue, five fleure-de-Lys gules chief with silver cross (worn by the knights of this Order); oval shield over eight-pointed cross of the Order of Malta and encircled by a rosary from which hangs an identical cross, French, 18th C., restorations and light differences on the stems, unreadable marks, note: eventually a Portuguese Knight of the family Guedes, of Lamego, who gave several members to the order in the 18th century, of which stand out the brothers Fra' Manuel Guedes de Magalhães (1713-1782), Bailiff, Governor of Fort Manoel in Malta, and Friar Francisco Guedes de Magalhães (1716-1781), Vice-Chancellor of the order, both buried in the grave with a coat of arms identical to those represented here in the Co-Cathedral of St. John in La Valletta Dimensões (altura x comprimento x largura) - 21 cm; Peso - 878 grs.
