Primeira tradução francesa da obra de Giannone (1676-
1748), jurisconsulto e historiador italiano, natural de
Ischitella (Foggia), da qual viria a resultar a excomunhão
temporária do autor e a sua inclusão no Index. A edição
original foi publicada em Nápoles, em 1723. A colação dos
quatro tomos é a seguinte: tomo I: [2], XXVIII, 656 p.: 1
retrato; tomo II: [2], VIII, 755 p.; tomo III: [2], VIII, 746 p.;
tomo IV: [2], VIII, 684 p. O primeiro tomo é ilustrado com
um retrato do autor “ad vivum”, gravado por Jeremias Jacolb
Sedelmayr (1701-1761). Conjunto com boas margens,
ocasionais leves manchas de humidade, revestido de
encadernações da época, inteiras de carneira, um pouco
cansadas. Ex-libris de Aníbal Fernandes Thomaz (nos quatro
tomos) e etiqueta de arrumação na contracapa posterior
com a inscrição D. Rodrigo de Souza Coutº. (só no tomo I).

First French translation of the work of Giannone
(1676-1748), Italian jurisconsult and historian,
born in Ischitella (Foggia), from which the temporary
excommunication of the author and his inclusion in the
Index would result. The original edition was published
in Naples in 1723. The collation of the four volumes is
as follows: volume I: [2], XXVIII, 656 p .: 1 portrait;
volume II: [2], VIII, 755 p .; volume III: [2], VIII, 746 p .;
volume IV: [2], VIII, 684 p. The first volume is illustrated
with a portrait of the author “ad vivum”, engraved by
Jeremias Jacolb Sedelmayr (1701-1761).
Set with good margins, occasional slight moisture spots
with slightly fatigued entire calf bindings of the time.
Ex-libris by Aníbal Fernandes Thomaz (in the four
volumes) and storage tag on the back cover with the
inscription D. Rodrigo de Souza Coutº. (only in volume
