William Gibson (1680-1750), a veterinary surgeon, was the author of four
of the most influential works of the time, in the history of equine veterinary
and farrier profession. Copy slightly trimmed and with slight acidity.
Recent binding with leather spine.
Segunda edição de uma obra sobre o ofício de ferrador,
que viria a ter grande sucesso, a ajuizar pelas oito edições
publicadas no espaço de 18 anos após a primeira, que data de 1720.
A primeira parte é ilustrada com uma gravura desdobrável,
junto ao rosto, e sete gravuras com diversos aspectos anatómicos do
cavalo. A segunda parte, com rosto e paginação próprios,
não é ilustrada. Exemplar com ligeira acidez, revestido de
encadernação recuperada, conservando ambos os planos originais
(lombada refeita) com decoração em rectângulos concêntricos.

Second Edition of a book on the craft of farrier, which would
be very successful, judging by the eight issues published within
18 years after the first, dating from 1720. The first part is illustrated
with a fold-out engraving, next to the face leaf,
and seven engravings with various aspects of anatomic horse.
The second part, with face leaf and own paging is not illustrated.
Copy with slight acidity, restored binding, preserving both the
original plans (restored spine) with concentric rectangles decoration.
