[WALLINGON, E[lizabeth?].- Sketches.- Século XIX (ca. 1850-
1870).- 29 aguarelas, 6 desenhos, 1 litografia, 1 mapa
datada: My Album. This book is very dear to me: it was
compiled by me for my own beloved George, to take to sea with
him, to serve him as a remembrance of places, and many very
happy days we have spent together...
do século XIX.
No final,

[WALLINGON, E [lizabeth]. -Sketches-19th century (ca. 1850
-1870).-29 watercolours, 6 drawings, 1 lithograph, 1 manuscript
map. - 24x34 cm.- E., An album consisting of 29 watercolours,
6 drawings, 1 lithography and 1 manuscript map, organized by
the author (E. Wallington) and offered to her son George, who
probably was British naval officer and died in a shipwreck in
the South China Sea. The guard projection includes the
following handwritten inscription unsigned or dated: My Album.
This book is very dear to me: it was compiled by me for my
own beloved George, to take to sea with him, to serve him as
a remembrance of places, and many very happy days we have
spent together. The following are the watercolours (and
drawings) 23 of which represent aspects of Sintra where the
Wallington family have resided at the beginning of the second
half of the 19th century. None of the watercolours are dated
or signed, but almost all of them include captions. However,
two of the drawings that represent the Wallington family
residence in the United Kingdom, dates from 1851 and 1870.
In the end, a few small drawings unrelated to Sintra and a
manuscript map of the South China Sea where allegedly George
Wallington has shipwrecked. The watercolours, worked with
some ingenuity, are pasted in the album leaves (dim. 21x30 cm.
maximum), one per leaf (except two smaller of the Peninha,
that are on the same sheet). Some acidity. Binding of the time,
with leather spine slightly fatigued
