auction of jewelry and silverware of Queen D. Maria Pia which
were given as collateral of those loans. The 375 lots would
amount 353,277 $ 000 reis, about 17 ME at current prices.
Many of these pieces, by its high value and international
listing, went abroad, emerging a few on the market, although
rarely. Such is the case of this centrepiece. It is the centerpiece
of the mentioned tableware chosen to illustrate the cover
of the Brazil-Portugal magazine of August 1, 1912.
It had been lot nr 7 of that auction, which was sold
by 1,830$00 Portuguese escudos, about € 90,000 today.

4 - The three monogrammed glassbowls belonging to each
of the above mentioned baskets are deposited in the Ajuda
National Palace under nr 22904/25 to 22904/27,
as the corresponding inventory file
