Notas:
o Mestre das Meias Figuras foi um pintor, ou um grupo de pintores,
dos Países Baixos na zona de Antuérpia, activo na primeira metade
do século XVI. Ele, ou eles, parece ter treinado na oficina de Joachim Patinir
naquela cidade. Ao invés de ser um único artista, acredita-se que o Mestre
era na verdade uma oficina, especializada em pequenas pinturas de jovens
aristocráticas. Os retratados são pintados em meio-corpo e em cenas
de devoção, daí o nome.

Note: the Master of the Female Half-Lengths was a Netherlandish painter,
perhaps a group, working in the area of Antwerp in the first half
of the sixteenth century. He, or they, appears to have trained in Joachim
Patinir’s workshop in that city. Rather than being a single artist,
it is believed that the Master was actually a studio, specializing in small panel
paintings of young aristocratic ladies. The subjects were in half-length
and devotional scenes, hence the name.
